If we wanna play like that…. Link isn't actually a platformer character. LOZ 2 was just one game and not typical of the series.

Sonic is essentially immortal as long as he has rings and doesn't drown.
    Rayman is… well… unique….
Megaman is a solidly scifi themed game
Mario is well… the only one without a long term powerup system.

    They're all different.

Mario lives in the mushroom kingdom, where there are giant venus fly traps, turtle-lizards steal the princess every now and then, and red mushrooms are trying to kill you.

These white mushrooms help you survive by giving you a height advantage. In addition, there are stars and flowers that give you abilities to combat these enemies.

This is all very weird. It's almost as if Mario…was on shrooms to begin with and he is suffering through one bad trip and the power-ups are his psyche trying to save him.

Now Mario must reach the princess, who is a metaphor for his escape somehow, by escaping the trippy world he is in.

Eh, Mega Man kinda makes sense. Especially if you follow some theories that say he takes their power chips. The physical contact thing also kinda works, if the powers only are data that travel through a robot's metallic skin. Even Axl makes sense, because he can only transform into things the size of himself.

Hmm…Uhh..*shrug* I give up. I mean, what joke can I make about this picture that hasn't already been made just as often as this picture?

Now the only question is: who would win in a fight?

Yoshi and Bowser are the result of him staring at his terrarium for an hour.

    Don't ask what Birdo is.

What about Banjo and Kazooie? By this logic they were about as powerful and exciting as my grandmother!
